*July 2012 News*

Today was East of England championship show at Peterborough and our judge was breed specialist Mrs Linda Player (Lyndex). The journey to the showground wasn’t too bad, however, the closer we got the heavier the rain became! After an hour and a half delay to judging they exhibitors agreed to stay outside for judging although as the day went on our ring became more and more flooded! Despite the conditions Lacey put on a good performance and was placed second in Puppy, some photos of her are below thanks to S&S Productions.

At Tyne, Wear and Tees Hound Association open show our judge for 6 classes was Miss Nikki Francis-Denny, (Casacola). Lacey was up first winning Puppy, Junior and Post Graduate then Molly won Open Bitch. In the challenge Lacey was declared Best of Breed and Best Puppy, she was also BPIS4. Molly again didn’t want to be left out and was declared RBVIS. With thanks to our judges for these results.

Today Lynn and I had a road trip north of the border to Edinburgh where Sam Goldberg was judging at Scottish Kennel Club. The weather had been terrible so judging outside was abandoned and we were judged inside in a lovely spacious ring. Lacey was up first and was placed 3rd in Puppy and Molly won 2nd in Veteran. With thanks to our judge for these placings.

Houghton Le Spring held an open show at South Shields and our judge was Mr R Mosedale. I’d entered Lacey, Molly and making a rare appearance was Izzy who showed her socks off and was declared Best of Breed and Group 3. Lacey was Best Puppy and Puppy Group 1. With thanks to Mr Mosedale for these awards.

Today Brian, Jen and I made the 6 hour drive to Devon & Cornwall Beagle Club Championship show in Bridgwater. Our judge for the bitches was Mr Stephen Dewhurst (Cadellin) who back in 2005 gave Molly the CC at N&MCBC show. I’d entered Lacey in both MPB and PB and in strong competition she was placed 3rd and 4th respectfully. Molly was in the second last class of the day, Veteran bitch and to my delight she was placed 1st! She then had to challenge for Best Veteran in Show and be assessed by the dog judge Mrs Janet Lees (Janlees). To my delight they were both in agreement and Molly was declared BVIS!! A few photos from the show are below taken by S&S Productions.

This weekend Lynn and I made the relatively short trip to Hound association of Scotland Championship Show which is held at Kelso. Our judge this year was Mrs Linda Powell of Hayapark Beagles and although the weather was freezing cold she managed to judge outside where there was plenty of room for the dogs to move out.  I’d entered Lacey in MPB and to my delight she was placed first. With thanks to our judge for this award and to Lynn for a thoroughly entertaining day. A  photo on Lacey just before winning her class is below taken by Lynn.

March 2012

It’s that time of year once again when the dog fraternity all pack up and head off to the NEC at Birmingham for Crufts and Lynn and I were two of those travellers. Our judge for Beagles this year was Mrs Marion Hunt “Bondlea Beagles”. I only had Molly entered this year in her first veteran class at Crufts and to my delight she was placed 2nd out of a class of eleven, with thanks to our judge for this award. Some photos of Molly and I are below taken by Sam & Stephen Dawson.

It had only been a week since Crufts and our second championship show of the year was upon us. Four Counties Beagle Club, of whom I’m a committee member, held their show at Belmont in Durham with the judge being breed specialist Ms Jo Norris “Sirron Beagles”. I arrived early to help set up and get the bacon butties on the go! I had entered Lacey and Molly at the show and Lacey was up first. This was her first champ show and she did me proud being placed 2nd in minor puppy bitch out of a class of nine and 3rd in novice bitch. Her second place qualifies her for Crufts 2013! A fabulous start to her show career. Molly was again in Veteran, the last class of the day and for the second week in a row she was placed 2nd. With thanks to our judge for these awards.

Tyne Wear & Tees Hound Club held their annual Hound of the Year competition at Bowburn and Molly, who has previously won Hound of the Year, had qualified for the Veteran of the Year. As usual we had a mystery judge for the evening and this year it was Mrs Sandra Johnston “Burnvale Bassets”. To my delight, after a few knock out rounds, Molly was declared Veteran of the Year!!! Some photos from the evening taken by Kath Parkin are below, with thanks to Mrs Johnston for this award.
